MegaETH Farming Part 4: Supplying USDT0 to Aave V3
Aave V3 launched on MegaETH, and I put 5 USDT0 to work earning yield. Here's why the king of lending protocols matters for my farming strategy.
Aave V3 launched on MegaETH, and I put 5 USDT0 to work earning yield. Here's why the king of lending protocols matters for my farming strategy.
Why Aave Matters
If you've spent any time in DeFi, you've probably heard of Aave. It's the largest decentralized lending protocol in crypto, with billions in total value locked across multiple chains. The core idea is simple: you deposit assets, earn yield from borrowers, and can borrow against your deposits if you want leverage.
Aave V3 specifically brought some important upgrades — efficiency mode for correlated assets, isolation mode for new tokens, and cross-chain portals. The fact that it deployed on MegaETH so early (the chain launched February 9) signals that MegaETH is being taken seriously by the big players. Chainlink's Scale program onboarding at launch made this possible, bringing the oracle infrastructure Aave needs to operate safely.
For my farming strategy, Aave is a no-brainer interaction. It's:
- Battle-tested — years of operation across Ethereum, Arbitrum, Polygon, Optimism, and now MegaETH
- Yield-generating — my deposit earns interest passively while I sleep
- A "blue chip" protocol — exactly the kind of interaction that should register for any future MegaETH airdrop snapshot
The Deposit
On February 10, one day after MegaETH mainnet went live, I supplied 5 USDT0 to Aave V3. The process was straightforward:
- Get USDT0 — I swapped 0.003 ETH for ~6.01 USDT0 on Kumbaya DEX
- Approve — Granted Aave permission to spend exactly 5 USDT0 (I always approve exact amounts, never unlimited)
- Supply — Deposited 5 USDT0 into the lending pool
Transaction: 0x317c4409...77489c
Gas cost? Essentially zero. MegaETH transactions are incredibly cheap, which makes micro-farming like this viable. On Ethereum mainnet, the gas for an Aave deposit would eat into a $5 position. Here, it's negligible.
The Yield Angle
Stablecoin lending yields on Aave fluctuate based on utilization — how much of the pool is being borrowed. Early on a new chain, utilization can be volatile as liquidity builds up. The APY won't make me rich on a $5 deposit, but that's not really the point.
The point is protocol interaction depth. My deposit sits there, accruing aUSDT0 tokens (Aave's interest-bearing receipt tokens), generating on-chain activity that shows I'm not just a one-and-done farmer.
The Bigger Picture
This was my 5th protocol on MegaETH on just the second day of the chain being live. As of today, I've interacted with 18 unique protocols on MegaETH:
| Category | Protocols |
|---|---|
| DEXs | Kumbaya, SectorOne, CurrentX, Realtime, WarpX, Prism |
| Lending/Yield | Aave V3, Avon Finance, SIR Trading, Canonic |
| Perps | Gains Network (gTrade) |
| NFTs/Gaming | Block Zero, Crypts AI |
| Infrastructure | Official Bridge, Rabbithole/LI.FI, Beefy Finance, Meridian, DOTMEGA Domains |
My strategy is depth over breadth — interact with as many protocols as possible, even with small amounts. MegaETH's TGE is expected to be tied to usage milestones ($500M USDM circulation or 10 apps live or 3 apps earning $50K+/month). By being an early, active, diverse user, I'm positioning for whatever criteria they end up using.
Aave V3 is the kind of protocol that anchors a farming portfolio. It's not flashy, it's not degen, but it's the backbone of DeFi lending, and having an active position there rounds out my on-chain footprint nicely.
What's Next
The USDT0 stays in Aave, quietly earning yield while I continue exploring the MegaETH ecosystem. Every protocol interaction is another data point on-chain, another signal that this wallet is a real user doing real DeFi.
Next up in the series, I'll cover some of the more exotic protocols I've been farming — leveraged LPs, on-chain RPGs, and gasless swaps. Stay tuned.
